Program Description

Wilson - Systematic, cumulative approach to teach total word structure for decoding and encoding. Follows a 10-part lesson plan that addresses decoding, encoding, oral reading fluency, and comprehension.

Grade 2 - adults who are not making suffient progress in a less intensive intervention or who may require more intensive instruction due to a language based learning disability.

 

Implementation

Implementation:

For individual or small group use:
3-5 times per week for 60-90 minutes in 1:1 or small, homogeneous group (up to 6 students) depending on the frequency and intensity of delivery, it can take up to 2-3 years to complete the 12-step curriculum.


Progress Monitoring:
Criterion-based assessments built into the program measure progress and determine readiness for movement to the next step:
- Read 14/15 (real and nonsense words charted weekly)
- Spell words with 75% accuracy and be able to self correct
- Read controlled text passages fluently

    - any Lexile (with intent to scaffold to next level of rigor)

    - SRI score  (for reinforcement of deficit skills)
