Excel – 1:1 progress monitoring for each student with regard to academic coursework and study skills. Holistic skills can include behavioral supports in organization, decision-making, conflict resolution, relationship-building, etc. The guided-study environment engages Excel students in collaborative grouping for learning practice and/or mentoring. Assessment supports are matched to the recommendations received from classroom teachers. Although students are commonly referred to Excel for academic concerns (suggested by multiple D’s and F’s at grade report intervals), students are also referred for holistic concerns (life circumstances, social influences) that negatively impact academic success. Referral is an ongoing process using the Teacher Feedback Form (in the box to the right).
