This box is easily made by creating a new box, selecting "system content boxes" and then selecting "Links to Guides." It gives full functionality of subject headings and links to associated pages, but I don't like the "Browse by Subject/Author" that appears at the top. Besides the extra real estate it takes up, I think students will try to search for teacher pages here and be frustrated when they don't find them. Secondly, and this I stumbled upon by accident, you would always have to place this box at the top of the page. If by chance the box is at the bottom of a column and the user has to scroll down to it, when they click "subject" or "author," it will always refresh the page and jump back up to the top. Frustrating. While the "Browse by Subject" will probably always go at the top of the page anyway, this is good to know in advance. An example of this is shown in blue below.
The box in the left column above that I am actually using on the homepage was created by going into the "Widgets/API Utility." I followed these steps:
1. "List of Subjects with Links"
2. "Include subjs. w/ no published guides? yes
3. "include associated guides? No
4. "Bulleted list"
5. "Show me the URL"
7. create a new box
