1. Project Directions & Handout

In the box to the right there are several topics hotlinked to websites that came up in standard Google searches.  As students doing research at the upper high school/college level and considering the five criteria addressed earlier (authority, currency, accuracy, coverage, objectivity), evaluate each site and explain why it should or should not be considered a legitimate source of information.  Use the checklist to thoroughly analyze each site.


Learning Targets

1.  I can evaluate websites using 5 recognized criteria to determine the validitiy of websites for use in research.

2.  I can write a properly formatted annotated bibliography with appropriate content for a given assignment.


3. Sample Annotated Bib.

Once you have completed the checklist and citations for each website, draft an annotated bibliography for each one using the example below as a guide. 


Five Evaluative Criteria

Authority: Who wrote it?
Currency: How up-to-date is it?
Coverage: How thorough is it?
Accuracy: Is everything true?
Objectivity: Is there a bias?
